Lisa McFarland brings more than 25 years of experience in the field of Human Resources, specializing in designing and delivering high-quality learning solutions that align with organizational culture and people strategy.
As a member of the Williams HR Consulting team, Lisa is dedicated to designing effective learning for clients focused on promoting leadership capability, elevating team performance and supporting ongoing professional development to drive business outcomes. In the course of her career, Lisa has worked primarily in complex, fast-changing organizations. She has experience working as an HR professional in the pharmaceutical, property management, recruitment solutions, transportation, and education services sectors. She has expertise with global organizations and cross-cultural teams within both public and private sectors and in union and non-union environments.
Lisa’s design work is based on adult learning best practices with practical application to add value to the workplaces she supports. She has designed workshops for Canadian, U.S. and International groups. She has experience creating and implementing a national orientation program to unify the on-boarding experience, composing global training best practices and business documentation to increase training effectiveness, and providing guidance on curriculum design.
As a training facilitator, Lisa has experience facilitating domestic and international workshops. Her implementation and delivery of a trainer qualification program in India was very well received by the client group and provided significant impact to the business. Lisa conveys enthusiasm for her subject matter that translates into a vibrant learning experience – making learning fun. Her participants consistently describe her as an “outstanding instructor,” “energetic” and “insightful”.
Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree from York University and completed the Adult Learning and Development Program at OISE, University of Toronto. She is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) through the Human Resources Professionals Association, and has a designation as a Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) through the Institute for Performance and Learning.
Outside of the office, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, playing hockey with her friends, and creating digital scrapbooks to capture the memories of her trips and special events. The energy she draws from these activities fuels the passion she has for helping individuals develop the skills, competencies and behaviours they need to excel.
